Quick Report

Happy Fathers Day to All you fish slaying dads out there!

Launched at Shelter Island at 4AM. Only 1 boat in line at the bait barge. Cleared the point by 4:45 headed straight for the San Salvador knoll area. Stopped on a couple small patties holding small YFT and picked one off to get the skunk off the boat. Ride was calm and flat all the way out. Made it to the spot at about 7AM. Started dragging the Yummy Flyer about 5 miles shy. Water Temp was 68.7, Only a small handful of private boaters in the area. Got some good meter marks and saw fish crashing a few times. Finally got a good blow up on the popsicle (Thanks LP Fishing Supply) at about 11AM. Had her in the boat by 11:45. Stayed in the area for a few more hours for nada and headed back to the barn around 2:30. Back at Point Loma by 4:45 PM. Nice 12 hr boat ride and managed to bring home a nice fish too! Taped out at 173 #'s.

Not my boat. But i do agree. Custom built panga out of Ensenada with a 115 Evinrude. Ride is super smooth. I just fish with friends and teach them what I know and have learned about catching these guys. Always fun to hand a rod off to someone knowing its the biggest fish they have ever pulled on.

Congratulations on the fish...we were out there with you...I think we chatted on the radio earlier in the morning. We had one shot and missed. Good to see you got one.
