Quick post. Fished this area yesterday and saw a massive amount of fish. Many schools but all boat shy. Night time they bit the jigs. I used a Mustad Rip Roller Gold Abalony color and Katie perry. Day time was slow, a few fish were taken soaking live baits. I would not fish anything less than 30lb, some large fish mixed in. Saw several large makos. Did not see any foamers and very few kelp paddies. Good luck..

Funny how we always look for structure and kelps when planning our trips but for the last 2 weeks these fish have been right in the middle of nowhere. Must be a temperature / current break from the islands holding them there. Thanks for the updated info, and congrats on the fish.

I am the same way but that was because last season you would spot a smallish sized kelp and there would be 1000 dorado on it

Did you run a tracker on a sport boat :hali_ruahahaha:
I usually do for a couple reasons. But it don't matter much in this case because it seemed like EVERYONE knew the fish were there. Lots of skiffs out there. Let me share one of the main reasons I use this app. I can board a boat and check the cruising speed. Then use the measuring tool to calculate the distance to the nearest bank or fishing area I think the boat will go to. So then I divided the distance by the speed and calculate when I need to set my alarm to wake me up. This time it was perfect. Woke up 30 min before our first stop. Got coffee and was relaxing just as we stopped on our first school. You can also calculate trip times back to the dock. TIP- put your phone in Airplane mode to save battery and GPS will still track you.
