Fished Friday for 2 100 lb models on Mad Macs at Mack Bank!
Fished Saturday for 2 more same location and method.
Fished Sunday for 0 on Madmac, popper, jigs.

Now on to the Asshats!! I am not sure why, but maybe my boat is magnet for Asshats. I would troll far away(half a mile minimum) from everyone else. I don’t like crowding people, and I do not like people crowding me. I intentionally try to avoid driving anywhere near boats, and I will change my direction to get away from these guys that love to come by and see what the hell I am doing. We all know that just about every boat is trolling way way way back. I had clowns literally running up to me, and running right behind my boat. This happened over and over again no matter how much I tried to stay well away from anyone. I don’t friken get it!!!! Absolutely no respect. I go further out to stay away from these clowns, but they gotta come over and cause me to stop my boat so my Madmacs can sink out and my line will not end up in their prop! Fish are every damn where. LEARN TO FISH FOR FISH, AND STOP FISHING FOR BOATS!!!! This scenario occurred over and over and over.

On the way in from Mack Bank yesterday, we came around Catalina, and we seen foamer after foamer just like everyone else. We did not troll this area as the fleet of fisherman where definitely there. Many boats rushed to foamer after foamer. Good ole run and gun. The crazy part was watching 5 boats all rush the foamers from every direction whenever they popped up. Total whack A mole style. we Made attempts to only go after the foamers that had no other boat charging at them. I kept away from all the BAFOONARY that was taking place. We stop on a foamer that stood up for us. We launched clear poppers for no love, when all of a sudden, here comes ASSHAT #1, charging thru the foamer with trolling gear out, as we are casting. The usual arms go up in the air with disbelief about what this clown is doing. As he gets a couple hundred yards away, here comes another Asshat in a blue Radon looking boat. His boat and gear looked like a seasoned vet of the sea, BUT NOOOOOOOOOO! This clown runs right behind the other Asshat, making sure to run any remaining fish over. I guess he was trying to catch the fish with his prop. Instead he caught AASSHAT #1 trolling line, as we once again threw up our arms in disbelief. I congratulate both ASSHATS on the radio, as Asshat #1 chased down ASSHAT #2 Trying to save his $100 spool of line!

GET A FUCKEN CLUE PEOPLE!!!
If you are the guy with the Blue Radon that swiped up all that line into your prop, you FUCKEN DESERVE IT!

Ok, I feel better after getting this off my chest.

I don't know about you but my madmac strikes have been on breezers away from the foamers.

There's a bunch of idiots out there fishing for boats. As soon as I stop mine or start circling/weaving on fish they always charge right up on me. Then they try to poach the group of fish I'm working on. The whole area is loaded with fish. No reason to be fighting over a small area. Plus the less pressured areas seem to produce better bites. You just need to have an arsenal of crap on your boat to throw at them. If they don't bite one lure don't be afraid to switch it out to find what they are interested in. Every day is a different day.

Can anyone give me some insight into how to get these madmacs to swim right at 13kts? Mine do not want to troll anywhere near that fast and pop up to the surface.
    What size MadMac?
    I use a 200 Madmac . I have crimped 6 ft leader of 200lb mono.
I use an actual stiff trolling rod.

I attempted to troll fast with a rail rod, and the tip seems to flexible and the MadMac will bounce out.

Ya I am running something similar. I'll double check the rod tip stiffness. We may be using something like a rail rod. We rigged up in the spring and I have not thought about it since....Would perhaps strapping the rod versus in the rod holder help with the bounce? Thanks for the input.

you might want to try an Aftco flat line clip.

Yeah, I never get why there's plenty of ocean out there to traverse, but any and every boat has to drive right at me, or in front of me to create a nasty wake for me to drive over.

I troll a couple of these babies on the back of my boat. The weekends are the best time to catch a few of those lures. The best method is to be an asshat and troll through the stern of boats with trolling rods out. I heard that you just look for a big school of boats and something called a "foamer" near them. The free spectra is an extra bonus. If you pull hard enough, you might even catch a free rod and reel set.

When you see someone on the other boat throw both their hands up, you know you just hooked one or two MadMacs up! HOOOOK UP!!!

I heard from Billy K that I can resell the MadMacs on eBay for good money.

i've had no issues trolling them at 13 knots.... slow the boat down and drop it in once it is under the water drop it back a ways maintaining tension on the spool then you can start to increase speed while still dropping it out maintaining tension until it is way way back

I have a small skiff and figure no one is paying attention to me…wrong! I stop to glass the water often about every mile or so, it seems like the boats around me do and abrupt halt and 180 toward my position when I stop to look around. Sometimes I wait for them to get close to be bummed out there is nothing around me. Then I continue on my way with a friendly 👋. I like to fish with people but dang would you run up on a stranger at the super market just because they stopped their cart to take a glance at the goodies that are in the isle and circle them while they are looking???!!! I hope not😂

This happens to me too. I stopped to pee not long ago but had to reel in a rod first and a fairly large and crowded boat pulled up mid stream. I’m waiting for the day I need to use the can and I get company half way through

My take is this. If you all are trolling lures of any kind, 200 or more yards behind the boat, you are asking for trouble. Marlin guys have lures on the 5th wave, max. The zones are too crowded and with this style of trolling boats are going to get stuck, where they have no where to turn. Running hard up to a school of foamers is of course not good. It will only put them down. Guys get desperate late in the day with a bag full of ice and empty fuel tanks.

Same goes when trolling long on the surface on a busy lake. You're bound to get snagged.

I've personally witnessed plenty of "seasoned vets" troll right through a long-soak fleet, or run right into foamers, or pull right onto kelps, etc. Some of these are even the same guys that complain about the same "googan" behavior on Instagram. Sometimes you get desperate I guess 🤷‍♂️ Or just DGAF since you're cool......

Any particular reason why mono is used over fluoro as leader?
