Good morning guys,
Just bought a Tranx 400hg and was told by the guy at the shop there was a phenix rod that pairs well with it but I cannot remember the model... the plan is to use it for surface iron yt. Any insight is appreciated
Thanks

I use the Lexa 400 and it's the Black Diamond psw809xhj or psw909xhj for me!

Tranx 400 is a "small" 400 sized reel. I wouldn't put it on the 909. I fished bass with it on a 8'2 M1 Inshore

Where are you? The Longfin in Orange has a big selection.

The psw809h and M1 smx82mh and h are all worth looking at too. The Longfin probably has them all. I have 807ml, 808mh, 2x 809h, 869h, 2x smx82mh, 809xhj, 909xhj. I've used all of them with Curado, Lexa and TranX 300's, NaCl50's, Lexa 400's, TranX 500's (on the 809xhj and 909xhj).

The psw809xhj throws iron well. I've caught YT, Wahoo, YFT on both the 809 and 909xhj's. I loaned the 809xhj with a Lexa 400 to a friend who killed it on the surface iron at Cedros while I was doing the same with the 909xhj/TranX 500.

Also look at the black diamond 809HXF or 809H. It’s slightly softer than the 809XHJ and I like it better for the lighter baits.

Another good rod is the black diamond USB 800H. But that’s more of a calico and Yellowtail rod for me. That rod has a trigger handle and is really nice for throwing swimbaits for calicos but can definitely handle good sized tuna.

smx82mh. Its a rad combo. Favorite inshore set up, can cast plastics for calicos, smaller irons for yellows at the cornados, and small snipers for school size tuna. Its a rad combo, and i've landed all the above on it. Its rated 15-40. You gotta remember the Lexa 400 is wayyy bigger than the Tranx 400. The Tranx 400 is closer to a lexa 300.
