Could always go to the county fair and buy an animal. You can find people willing to split a larger animal too, bringing the cost down further. Not a bad way to go if your only goal is quality meat in the freezer and I bet the price per pound is cheaper than the all in cost of an out of state hunt. It's not just the tag....you have to consider out of state license, gas to get there, supplies for when you'll be staying there. Those incidentals add up quick on any hunt. Id go to the fair before I went and shot a fenced in farm animal and called it hunting.
