Ummmmmm.....Pretty sure this the reason I got a boat in the first place. When we run outta beer the fishing trip is over.

I put this on the Washington board for a reason. CA residents opinion didn't matter. It doesn't matter if you drink and boat in CA., the place is already a dump.

I know people who can't handle or manage their drinking, they are never invited out with me. Other than that, I don't have any problem with a few cold ones on board. I also oppose the open container law, drinking a beer is not impaired.

I made my girlfriend learn to drive the boat and take the boaters test for this reason! Plus beer cans float, so the more the better if the Ol' Admin Leave sinks, it'll give me floatation as well as something to drink to pass the time until the Coasties pick us up! Plus even if your not going to drink it, it makes great bartering material off shore when you need gear in a pinch I always carry airplane bottles in my dry storage!

There is no law that says you can't drink and shoot guns in California. If that is legal then why not a beer on a boat. As long as you don't get slapped up drunk I think staying within legal limit is ok. But I get the logic of thought the poster was getting at. Why is it ok with one and not the other?:D I don't know about Wa. laws.
