Soldier Field seating area cleared in first quarter with tornado warning; Bears-Ravens suspended.
Chicago is getting hit with a massive storm, and Soldier Field officials have asked fans to clear the seating area and move to the concourse as the game between the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears is suspended briefly.
Play was stopped following Ravens kicker Justin Tucker's 52-yard field goal, and the teams cleared the field shortly afterward. Ray Rice scored a touchdown earlier in the quarter, and the Ravens lead 10-0.
Game officials are determining what to do next. The game will not resume prior to 2:25 p.m. ET, per reports.
Meanwhile, the stands are pretty much empty.
Winning! Go Pack, Go!
by Executive Order.
Now I feel like an ass.. Hope everybody made it out OK...
Don't, there was no way you could have known.
Ya.............tornados are hilarious, you lose your house, your car, your job, you life.
Funny stuff there.
You're right, they should have kept playing the game......it was just a tornado.
I old high school classmates that live with 20-25 miles of both Washington & Gifford.
FB is buzzing about the destruction.
I feel bad for the people in both communities.
How in the hell was he supposed to know? We're watching football and only know what it advertised by the NFL shows. We are in .Cal....
Am I missing somthing? Please educate me if I am mistaken...
The announcement at the stadium and all over the news Yahoo, ESPN, CNN, Ect....... was that "the game was suspended due to Tornado Warning with funnel clouds spotted in the area".
Got a buddy who lives in Rantoul, he texted my just after he drove over to Gifford to see if he could help, the county sherrifs asked him to come back tomorrow in the daylight to assist with the clean up. Right now a lot of people are putting plastic sheeting on roofs to cover up the damage incase it rains anymore tonight.
He said it looked like a bomb went off.
And????? Were there any announcements on the football channels about it ? No! There were not.
Not his fault....
I do feel for those who suffered a lose, but have only been made aware by Maggies update.
Take note, his post was prior too.
Several homeless familes are sheltering in the Crossroads Methodist Church in Washington until they figure out what to do.
Washington is about 100 miles from Gifford, obviously separate tornados.
Good thing the Bears are now winning.........I'm sure that'll make them feel better.
Separate names with a comma.
