Starting May 2017 the Vaquita dolphin reserve will expand 11 times the present size.and gill nets are banned from the area.President Pena of Mexico and Obama agreed to two year restriction.Economic support for the Felipe fishing production will 57 million dollars U.S..To compensate industry.My take is the fleet will fish further south ,mess things up down there and also receive their economic kick back.In the mean time the Sea Shepherd global funded boat that is pulling all the illegal gill nets that poachers are using to harvest Totoaba,is being threatened by the cartel.A senior member on the boat received a phone call, the man told him his home address ,wifes name,and all family members living in his home in Chile.Senior member said they won't stop their vigil in the Cortez.Mean while on the Pacific side the seiners are stealing all the bait from the border all the way pass San Quintin to feed their Fucking blue fin pens in Salsipuedes and Ensenada....Took this picture yesterday 200 yards off the beach. Every day the seiners are here,And a lot of stalls at the Ensenada fish market are now closing at times because they have no fish.......Have A Great Future Everybody.

When I say seiners off the beach in Baja Malibu pacific side sometimes there are 5 6 7 or even more boats,I have seen them in San Quintin too,and I swear to god I have seen them right where the Border fence runs into the sea,,,WTF??

They actually range all the way down to Cabo and there has been s concern that are affecting the sardine populaions and fishing down there also.

Seiner's wrapping bait in Ensenada bay has been going on since almost a year after the pens were moved off the point going to La Bufedora. We used to have a family get together at Campo La Jolla every summer and the seiners at times would come dangerously close to shore, the locals would say they were raping the bay cause they were so shallow they would drag the nets along the sea floor and uproot anything in the way. Curious as to why nobody is up in arms like they were in San Qunitin a month ago, depleting the Sardine population in the long run will have a much larger impact on the local fisheries than sport boats sitting on a spot for a couple of days. Good on the Sea Shepard for having eyes on the upper Sea of Cortez. My opinion.
