No problem. Mine is a Blue water Bait Systems 55 gallon tank.. it has a setting for half full so 1 scoop is no problem.

Defiance makes boats. Bait tanks take time and are not profitable enough for them I'm Sure! They make them for those that want one on their new boat and a few more to sell. Get 2short to drive by or someone else to see if they have one on the floor. Or call Capt Decent for one of his tanks. You Might be the first one with one of his on your boat.

Kodiak thru West Marine might be your best bet shipped to the store to save on shipping. 32Gal will get you 2 scoups.

Any reason you didn't use the built in wash down piping / fitting on that Shurflo bait pump?

I would assume that if the pump dies, he can keep his wash down pump running by turning off a valve(the one before the bait pump) and put it in the bait tank for some sort of circulation while he changes the bait pump

John, always awesome to see these tanks... and your "workstations" at every rod holder / downrigger.

His tanks always get double checked for quality control before they get the goatram stamp of approval. Love ours!

This is what I did. All the PVC you see is above the water line. I have a valve below the bait pump that you can't see in this picture. the valve on the left is for the bait tank, valve on the right is for the fish box so I can flood it for crab. My boat is small in comparison to the others on here. Since I have finished this little project the tuna haven't been close enough for me to venture out in my boat as of yet. Pump is an 800 GPH sureflo. You can also see that I'm feeding my wash down pump from the manifold port on the bait pump, this has worked very well so far.

I would not use PVC fittings. Bronze only or Marelon for tin boats. Marine rated hose, double-clamped.

Exactly what Pat said. Also because nylon..... I don't even like the fact that the pump is supported only off the nylon stem. I have since added a support to the underside of the pump.

Since this thread is bumped up I figure I'll update our bait tank situation. After reading everyone's responses to this thread, as well as a lot of PM's, we decided to do it right the first time and have Ryan - AKA Captain Decent build our tank. The tank came out of powdercoat this week and we're hoping to install it by the end of June. I will update with a new thread when we install it. We couldn't be any happier with how things have gone to this point, and Ryan has been extremely patient as we have made multiple changes to it throughout the process.

I wish you well Eric. Do show pics of the tank when installed. Inquiring minds want to see.

Go out the stern if possible 1 1/2 inch discharge will take care of an 1100 gal pump fine (with that size tank an 800 would be fine). If your going below the waterline, use bronze with an accessible ball valve at the thru hull. Don't attempt a below waterline discharge anywhere except out the stern. In any case, the 1 1/2 inch discharge is important because even with an 800gph pump, you will overflow. There is no need to put a valve to regulate the discharge, but you may want to put a valve in the line to regulate the inflow.
