This is Billy reporting for the Spectra. WE had another great weekend of fishing!!! We had an open party trip with 4 anglers and a private 2 day charter with a group of 5 guys. ffice:office" /><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[IMG]
I cannot emphasize to you guys how much spectra line has helped us. Being able to work through the kelp and helped us be more effective with fishing the kelp.

On our 2 day trip, unfortunately on our first day, we lost our anchor over at Santa Barbara due to some stubborn rocks that wanted the anchor more than we did. They lost their anchor at 11 am and had to head back to Catalina right away so I could drop off that anchor for them. I ended up getting a ride on Bobby Lineo's Everglades to deliver the new anchor. Thanks Bobby. Got to the back side of Catalina in about an hour from Alamitos Bay.
Once the boys got the new anchor, they stuck around Catalina to see if an afternoon bite developed but nothing to show for their efforts. So back over to SBI they went.
And for the fish count, they ended up with 9 sea bass to 34 pounds, limits of calico bass and limits of sheephead for both days and, a few Cabazon in the mix. Really quality fish too. Some of the calicos topped the scales right around 8 pounds with the average being 3 to 4 pounds. The sheephead fishing has been phenomenal. We got 1 right around 20lbs and a handful in the 15 lb range. These guys were really great about releasing most of the calicos and big sheephead. Everyone went home with healthy sacks of fillets.
All in all, a great trip for everyone. It seems like fishing is really starting to turn on everywhere. Albacore are biting, San Clemente putting out some nice counts of yellowtail, along with the sea bass action at Catalina, great sand bass action locally………..so really good fishing.
Well we have 2 open party trips for this weekend. We are either going to Catalina or San Clemente depending on how things go.

If you would like to come fishing with us, please call the office at 562-266-6228
Other than that, the fishing is good. Come on out and fish with us.

Gotta love the quality of calicos in those photos. That is world class size bass right there, and plenty of them. Looks like one hell of a fun trip. Pay a few bucks and catch quality fish all day. Those guys probably spent less that me taking my kids to the fair, and had WAY more fun. Nice going.

Thank you Brant, we are trying really hard to make the best of this season.

That cooler has seen death for many fish. ahaahah funny quote.

Capt. Jeff Jones,

The calico bass fishing has been excellent! We educate our customers on the special occasions and we should release as many as we can. Calico bass are not for "filling the coolers" but they are great to catch. Bass which are gut hooked are kept, but we really try catch and release them as much as we can.

Thank you for your kind comments!
