Here lures are proven lures for GT worldwwide.
I tested Heru Skipjack on the Big E out of Texas years ago.
I got tuna with the lure. I gave it to a mate after fishing. I heard he killed tuna with the lure.
I later found popping fishermen used the lures in Panama and they kept quite as they were so successful to catch tuna with the lures.
Heru Skipjack lures become a must to fish in Panama.

ksong's technique is interesting vs. the guy in blue. Point the rod towards the fish and pull vs. high sticking.

I have a friend that uses this technique. He has used it throughout his fishing career. He more or less finesses the fish to the boat. He figures the more you pull, the more the fish will pull back.

I couldn't even tell if he had a fish on at times.

It works, especially when you use long and light rods. I was using 10' Black Hole Suzuki rod rated 1/2 oz - 2 oz on the first video. It is not tuna rod and I used it for fun.

    I use harness when needed.

Yes. The SPJ technique does the same thing. Fight the fish with the reel and not the rod.

@ksong so you only like their poppers? You don't like their vertical jigs?

Yes. I found Japanese anglers use the same technique.t
I have many things to talk about SPI for West Coast anglers as I often fished long range boats out of San Diego.
We have high enPd SPJ rods called Black Hole Cape Cod Special Slow dPitch Jigging rods.
We also developed SPJ rods called 6'8" Charter Special Slow Pitch Jigging rods at reasonable prices (from $185).
Here is a video of fighting tuna using 6'8" Black Hole Charter Special Slow Pitch Jigging rod.
