I have been traveling most of this summer, so I missed an early season fishing. I hope to hit it hard starting this weekend. Thinking about having a boat moored all year to fish for two months kind of makes me ill.

Sub lease the slow fishing times.

Fished MCB Thurs/Fri with my father. It was some of the best fishing I have ever seen! Thursday we hooked 6 adults, lost one, released 3 unclipped and bonked 2, back at the ramp at 8AM. Friday we hooked 2 and bonked them both on our first troll, back at the ramp at 6AM. Both days there were nets out everywhere and at any given time someone was fighting a fish next to you. There were less boats Friday but still plenty. I would not be shocked if the quota for A9 got filled in this first 3 days.

Hit Jeff this evening. Found a good spot in ~150' on the last of incoming. We caught several decent Coho, one ok wild king and one large wild king. We'll give it a shot again tomorrow...

Fished Jeff Head Friday morning. 11 lb king right at tide change and 5 coho along the way. Eating large herring, size up on your spoons. Couldn't get a bite on cookies n cream tried 3 sizes. I guess they are catching on to us. Army truck coyote and hoochies brought fish home.

Fished with my pops and 6 year old son Thursday and Friday. We were moored in cultus bay so made the 20 mile run north to mcb each morning leaving at 5am after dropping a couple pots on possession. Couldn't ask for better conditions or hotter fishing.

Thursday we were lines in the water at 6 and we were done by 7. Highlight was my son reeling in his first Chinook. A nice little 6 pounder. The other highlight was my dad and I on a double, both really nice fish. His had an extra fin but the other was a nice 14 pound clipped. We ended up back at possession and added a bonus coho and 7 dungy.

Friday was a little slower but got our 3 by 10. Again back to possession for coho rodeo keeping 1. Added another 4 dungy.

Saturday my dad was busy so I left the dock solo at 4:15 to fish possession for a couple hours. I had to be back through the channel and to the slip by 6:45 or I would be stuck out until 2pm. Another coho rodeo, keeping 1.

Each day we had enough energy to go to the pool and get some hot tub time.

Couldn't ask for better weather, hotter fishing and a great time with my parents/kids. Only miss was my wife couldn't join because she is a little crazy and did Ragnar.

They seem to show up when the pinks start to flow in and leave as soon as the run ends.
Porpoises show up in even-numbered years also, when there are no pink slimy rats running. They typically feed on the same bait schools as the salmon do, with a preference for herring (over anchovies or candlefish).

Fished PB Thursday with a friend from 7am till 11am. Coho and dog fish rodeo. Green and chrome flasher, Irish cream spoon and white hootchie with herring chunks. Lost a decent king to the motor (first king for the friend oops).
Friday went out solo same time ran the same set ups except no herring chunks. Didnt get one bite! Now I know!

I went out yesterday and braved the insanity that was Jeff Head on a sunny, calm Sunday morning. Nothing keepable :( It was a beautiful day for boating, at least.

Fishing JH today was drastically different from Friday. Not a single early morning bite, not even a shaker from before 6:00 till after 7:30. 3 coho came later and missed a decent line peeler takedown around 10:00. Didn't see any nets flying all morning.
