    Hey All,
Well I was finally able to get out on the water on a a scheduled 2 Day I have been going on for some 11 or 12 years now. Most of the same anglers for all those years with a change her and there. It is always great to see old friends and enjoy a weekend together. Always a great time and catching fish is always a bonus.
Fist off I want t thank Jody for putting together a fantastic crew as always on the Apollo, Travis @ the helm, Jake the 2nd, on deck was Tanner and Jay with Action in the Galley. The boys worked as hard as possible to get us on fish and make it all happen. Action in the galley made some outstanding grub for us. Thank you gentlemen for a fantastic trip!
Now the fishing, day 1 we were up early am and started on the prowl for yellowfin tuna there were plenty around all over the place, I heard we were 40 miles or so south, we trolled all day and stopped a bunch of times and managed to scratch up 63 fish for the day, most were in the 10 to 15 lb range with a bigger fish here and there. Congrats to Rudy Jr. for winning the jp day 1. Day 2 as decided we went in search of big bluefin and search we did, we were in the area of the 43 and everywhere around it a shark bit early on the kite but came unbuttoned before getting to the boat. . . . Big loss, we would search around most of the morning all to no avail. Everyone was getting a little frisky to say the least and Travis stopped on a big mark on the sonar. Huge as he said. We threw it all at them, the kite got hit 1st. Big fish on and everyone that wanted to pulled on that fish. I got hammered on a big white flat fall jig, I really wish I would have taken the time to add a split ring and swivel, the fish ran and went crazy a long time, my HX Raptor screaming the fish slowed down I got him to turn applied pressure got a few cranks and dink! I was popped loose. Major malfunction no one to blame but me. . . Oh well.
Ceaser would get bit next, same color flat fall Ceasar asked how I worked the jig, I was letting it drop as designed reeling like a yoyo really letting it fall, on the 3rd fall is when I was hit. Well for him the same. We boated a 237 and Ceaser got 217. Beautiful fish for sure. Congrats Ceaser on your fish and to everyone else on yours. No I didn't turn on that thing, fuck losing that fish with what great luck I had all weekend lol.
Good Times TY Paul for putting it together.
I did end up 2 yellowfin and some beautiful chunks of Bluefin. The poke is marinating. . .
    Until the next one. . . . .

    Awesome report!

What part of your flatfall gave out? Hook, spectra or the ring?

Thanks, at least you got bit. Guys on our trip were making new wired hooks to throw at hoo as well. Shimano might need to make some tougher flat falls.

Yes Marty thats you little brother been watching you grow up on that boat and now you are gaffing cows!
I did some corrections, spelling and editing on ipods and androids are not my forte but this is where the pics are,

Belly meat should be smoked whole after seasoning. Skin and fat peel right off and they are delicious.
I will post pics of the smoker when I downsize some on my computer at home.

Those flat falls need to be rigged with a split ring and a big ass swivel!

Mike, thanks for putting this report together and for giving me the advice on how to fish that flat fall, it worked just like you said it would and I was able land my personal best with that 217 pounder. I'm hoping Karma will be repaid to you on the next trip and bless you with a monster. I too had a great time on the trip, the boys and lady we fish with are always a pleasure to see every year. The crew was excellent as always (Travis, Jake, Tanner, Jay and Action). Also, great thanks to Paul Nakamura for setting up the charter. Thanks again and until next year, if not sooner! Cesar

None of it, the Line above or at the ring, anything could have happened but Cesar had his rigged up with a clip and swivel and his is in the boat!

I will make some changes before my 5 day in Oct. There are spots!!

Dude, thanks for the photos, it was fun as hell to pull on the fish. If should have fished hard like you did, might have gotten my own. Great trip with a great group of anglers and a fucking awesome crew. I love fishing with this group, its been great 7 years or so...
