Anyone know what the Excalibur was? Vessel name before it. Taft brothers bought a new boat.

Dudes a beast. Taft brothers at it again buying anything available for HM landing. It looks like the old holiday back in the day as you can tell by the hull.

Cant show picture because it’s from other website

It looks like one of the old dive boats owned by the Hess's. They were the Charisma and the Great Escape. One of them is now the Sea Adventure 80. Both boats were built to be dive boats but make great fishing platforms. Both boats can out of the San Pedro area.

It looks like the Great escape that was a dive boat in Santa Barbra It's the sister ship of the Encore (now the Sea Adventure 80). The great escape last time I seen it (2 years ago) it was very well maintained. To make long story short it would be the old Charisma. JMO

Does anyone have any idea who will be captain for the Excalibur? Bob is still on Top Gun 80 and Chuck is on the Legend. Just curious because I'll be fishing the Legend in August and I want Chuck at the helm.

I believe it’s Steve Taft. At least that is who has been posting the remodel and replying to everyone.

Dominator was for sale last year. Interesting the Taft’s didn’t buy that one instead. Either or, glad to see the Taft’s keeping the industry afloat.

I saw he was an upcoming guest on LTHU and was wondering what he would be plugging, this makes perfect sense.

Looks like a couple of old Legend captains are back to sportfishing in San Diego this season. Shawn Trowbridge is on the Searcher. Good to see them back.

Learned to fish off the Chrasima in the 80s, RFs off San Nic/Tanner, etc. Very beamy/stable, fishy, and comfortable. Big Galley and bunk room. A little high out of the water - but could work stick baits, etc on longer rods because of it. Remember getting 30lb Albies off her using a 196-8, TSM-2 and 15lb - back when they came in the Cat channel - pre fluoro & Spectra days.
Look forward to fishing off her again.

Boats in Diego to San Francisco has a huge turn over rate regarding owners. Some of the vessels get used for other purposes not even sport Fishing when it was designed for it.

Adding another sport fishing vessel to the Diego fleet only increases revenue for the industry. So yes Taft brothers are helping the industry in a good way. With another Fishing platform we can use in the sport we love.

I hope you are skinny cause Poseidon has 2ft between the galley and the rail,The Charisma has 4ft+. In a hot bite , its a big problem when you are 250lbs, just saying :D

I’m only 225, on a good day, and I have charter , and fish on her before, you can’t have 30 foot beam, all the time, and I,m willing to bet, that hunter, will be a class act,and not be degraded, by a old grumpy ass, my 2 cents.
