    For what it's worth...

Line Capacity on my tesoro is 250 yards of 80# Charkbait 16 strand toro tamer hollow braid

Usually fit 180-200 yards of 80 Izor solid on my trinidad 16

Trinidad couldn't get any better - and I'm Very impressed with the Tesoro!

Very true... making sense of reel sizes between brands is like understanding women lol. Lost cause.

Trinidad could get better line capacity as all Shimano models could. I had heard some not so good things about the new Torium and I think $470 for a star drag is nuts. I think Okuma hit the nail on the head with the Tesoro in design and pricepoint. Just need to come out with the 5 and maybe a 16 size down the road. A true replacement for the Trinidad 40's as the ultimate Wahoo reel.

Do you mean a $470 Trinidad? Toriums are in the $220 range. I have multiple trinis, talicas, and toriums without a single issue. I also maintain my reels religiously. Hopefully these Tesoros turn out to be proven winners.

Yes Sorry I meant that sentance as 2 parts... 1 that the NEW class of Toriums I have heard not so good things and the other alternative for Shimano is the Trini at a too high $470.

The torium is the best $200 star drag out there. I’d spend the extra $150 for the Tesoro any day I could afford to!

Actually only $120 more... yeah i was about to pull the trigger on either the Torium or a Fathom but like you said the Tesoro I could afford and the Trini I could not. Perfect price point and in line with my Andros and Makaira.

I have a Torium 16HG and absolutely love it. I've used it on everything from rock fish to offshore yellowtail and dorado. Live bait to tossing iron. I don't leave home without it. I also have a Tesoro 12 and 10 that I really like too. I won't know which I like better until I get to use it more. I agree with the previous poster who wrote the Torium is the best $200 reel out there.

I have a Trini 16A and have 65# braid fish 30#-40# mono topshots. My Cedros 10 star drag (replaced by the Tesoro) is just as good as the Trini in my opinion. Like I posted earlier, if Okuma comes out with a Tesoro 5 I'm getting one for sure.

That is a good point about the different sizes. When I internet shop for reels, I usually make comparisons based on the gear ratios and line capacities, but it would be much easier if manufacturers all showed scaled prints of different models (like Avet does).

I hope Okuma copies Avet in that regard.

Saw pics of the new 5s next to the 10 and 12. It looks like a fairly wide reel. Does anyone know how wide.it is compared.to a fathom 15?

It is supposed to be based prety exactly on the Andros meteloid 5 size. I thinknit looks wide because the reel diameter is so small. For example my andros 5nii is super skinny.

I have a Squall 15 reel i will take a pic side by side. I bet its similar. You want a wider reel with a small spool for better casting distances.

Thanks...Andros 5 dimensions would be great! which would be a little narrower than the Fathom/squall 15...cool!

Does the Tesoro 5s have a rod clamp? That reel would be perfect on my Seeker black steal deck hand rod.
