Might want to load up the Axis XXH to see where it maxes out. I fished mine at 18# drag and I think I could've gotten just a few more. Def not close to 30

OK, I was lucky enough to be on the Okuma sponsored EXCEL for an 8 day. I had the opportunity to test run an MK-15T prototype, mounted on a PCH xxh rail rod. It was used on school size YT, YFT, Grouper, and Hoo's. The reel was what you would expect of a Makaira: smooth and powerful. The size is about like an Andros 12. A Marlin was hooked on it while fishing with a bomb ( it's slow for bombs), giving the reel a good work out. 35 lbs of drag pulled the bomb. The reel was as smooth as glass; no faults could be found with the reel. The xxh was a great match for the reel. Bounced a few fish just to see how the rod would hold up; it to was up to the task. The rod and reel are a very versatile combination. I can't wait to get a 15T. I was told by a reliable source that the reel will be available early 2019.

Held one in my hand at the Long Fin on Saturday. it is a very nice size. It was actually smaller than I anticipated which is nice. It felt as wide as my Mk10 just a little taller.

Thanks. Cool you could get your hands on it to see how it felt. I actually think that reel would be nearly perfect for most heavy saltwater fishing here in Alaska.
