Hey guys, just saw this post. The Makaira MK-15TIISEa and MK-15TIISEa-SILVER will be launched in July to the industry. This reel is in the testing process now and since this reel is an all new platform, it needs additional testing. This is not just a new sizing, it also has some new internal components. At this point it is too early to offer a launch date to the public, but it will be more toward the end of the year.

Here is an image of an existing MK-15 and the new MK-15T to compare the sizing. The diameter falls between the current MK-15T and the MK-16T.

I’ve been waiting on this reel. It’ll be the new 60/80. Never felt comfortable bumping the 15 up for #80 duties.

Looks a bit taller than an andros 12 to me spool dia probably 2.5 to 2.6 inches.
It would be very nice to see a spool width front shot.
I really want one ( to go with the other MAK's that I have too many of)

they should just make the 16 narrow and bit lighter and called a day.

but since I was waiting for the 16n or 15t, Im all ears and eyes for this baby to see what it has new

A narrow 16 ( although it would be a beast) would not shave much weight off the standard 16.
I think what we see in the photo is what a lot of people want instead o the standard 15.
Looks like apart from the mid way between the regular 15 and 16 diameters they have gone for the much lighter and less complicated std 15 style clicker arrangement ( rather than the big game style clicker on the 16) and I bet significant significant other weight savings probably trying to get down to nearer 30 ounces rather than the 40+ ounces of the 16.
I really want one. Haven' got a clue what I am going to use it for

Has any one got any more details or pictures of this reel. Will it be at ICast?

Based on Okuma's track record we are at least a year out on this hitting the street. Unless a miracle happens. Nothing wrong with them getting it right before they go to market. Just don't expect anything soon and you are less likely to be disappointed.

Cannot wait to get one in my hands. Should feel great, and a little more drag never hurts.

I'd order one or two right now, but after waiting 7 months for a VISX this year, and the over 1 year wait on the Mak 16's several years ago, I think I'll let them hit the shelves first. They mentioned maybe later this year so hopefully we'll get some for Christmas.
