If you get out, let us know how you did. I will probably be in N.Y. in a few weeks. Would love to give it a try.

Same here... The harbor can be sketchy on smaller boats so be careful when the tide swings...

The East River is the worst if your trying to get up into the sound. Amazing amazing amount of floating telephone poles sketchy when you are heading through Hell's Gate etc...

From what I'm hearing the best fishing is still in Raritan Bay and you likely don't need to head into the harbor. Even guys pulling spoons on the hook are crushing fish.

For some reason the Western Sound hasn't popped yet but it will any day now.

Book a trip if you are going to be in NY. Bight will still be savage in a few weeks.

Thanks I know there is fish in the bay but looking for that one!i have fished the East River before and crushed some big fish up by Roosevelt Island. You get short windows of opportunity maybe an hour each way because of the tide flows. I use my Navionics App on my phone to organize the tides in that area. You move frequently to follow the tide changes.

My favorite spot is a rip right out in front of the UN really well defined and fished well on both tides. Timing the tides is so important for the river.
