Ok, so this is a little odd. Any 1/2 day deckies want to trade me a 1/2 a 5gal bucket of FRESH -as in still wiggling - healthy deans for a 6 pack of beer? Hell, if you want domestic stuff a 12 pack.

I have some friends that want to grill some fresh sardines. I don't feel like going to the bait barge to pick some up. Anybody wanna make me a swap?

I kinda volunteered to find the deans for em.

Alternatively, if someone wants to give me their left over deans from a trip I'd do the same deal. But, I want them alive fresh. I'll throw them on ice straight from the bait tank. I need at least 2 gal or so.

I can meet you at Shelter Island.

Don't have any in Hemet, but on a side note, my dad used to get all the live ones on the way back and can them. They were great.

You can buy live Sardines at the SI fishing pier.

My wife had some grilled.... it's Portugese receipe... still looked like bait to me.

I could eat grilled or fried dines everyday! It's in my Italian genes to consume all sorts of wonderful tastey sea creatures.

Whole fried sm. anchovies and a Moretti, Fo git a bowed it!

Mackerel are insane good grilled too.

You have to like that fresh oily fishy flavor. sooooo good.

I used to buy canned sardines and enjoyed them immensely. I liked them in mustard sauce best. They also had tomato sauce and light oil varieties.

They also sell canned mackeral. Made a mackeral salad sammich that wasn't bad. I have also fried mackeral fillets in corn meal. Tasty, but you won't need to salt them.
