Yes I agree with Juan. That warm water in the SOC can seem to pull them up that way. I'm watching this very closely too since I'm leaving tomorrow. Had to cancel a couple weeks back because of Lidia. Southwest is great and will usually try and accommodate last minute cancellations or changes.

Wife and I were on the last plane out before Odelle.
eventually, they waived all the fees for flight changes......as we were told to evac.
I wouldn't say that Alaska air-lines was "co-operative" about it, but they did eventually make it right.

Hot water makes them stronger in intensity. It has nothing to do with steering 'em.

From my experience here, I'd recommend you guys that were planning to come down, stay home and come later. The fish will still be here.

Not sure why anyone would go now.... Except for rat yellowfin, and an occasional Blue or Black, fishing was WEAK when I was there just before Lidia 3weeks ago.. and that was when water conditions were OPTIMALLY CLEAN and during the New Moon... After Lidia, the water's been green and shitty-hot... We did OK after 3 days fishing but only because of a heroic final day on the Inner and Outer...3- 50 lb. Cuberas, a lost stripey, a leadered Blue, and a billed and released Black... We were skunked if you don't count chicken do-dos and rat yellowfin on the first two days-(all released), because we were fishing strictly BIG tuna on the Inner...Even after this storm, it will take all long while for the water color and clarity to come back...ANOTHER BAAAD YEAR fishing-wise down there... don't believe the pie-in the sky reports...!
Can't speak for the East Cape but their boats were coming down to US to fish the rats on the Iman.....OUT.

I got a call this morning from my Capt down there in Cabo. at 2 am. He said " Dont Come". So there I was trying to get hold of my travel co to cancel. Well finally did and lost some money on the trip cost but got a credit for the rest. In the end was a good call the Capt I use sent me a message that they are closing the Marina tomorrow until further notice. So would have been there and not able to fish anyways .. and then on top of that would have to deal with what looks like its turning into a Hurricane ... I have been stuck before because of bad weather ... so all in all ... live to fish another day ....

Thank you everyone for your feedback. Of my group, I'm the only one who tracks weather like this so I'm getting the fuck out on Saturday while they're gonna try to party it out.

I just called Alaska and told them I was going fishing an did not want to be on the water with a hurricane out there. I asked if I could rebook for October and saw a lower fare on kayak. They waived the change fee and gave me credit for the lower fare. that is what I call exceptional service! They now have my business to Cabo for life.

I'm sure a BAD fishing season, shitty water color AND clarity, along with approaching hurricanes will all make a 180 degree change because of your diploma from Harvard....on the other hand, there are plenty of LITTLE rat tunas and chicken dorados if that's your game... last heard: was that ports were closing Sat. Sun. and Mon...
    be safe and good luck....

Then you know the limitations and inaccuracies of today's weather forecasting models. Even though they use super computers and the latest up to date info they often conflict with one another and are often incorrect. Better safe than sorry. Just my opinion.

I used to have a center console inboard and a 4-wheel drive van I kept in Cabo prior to the harbor being built (permanent slips)
Weather and fishing can really be quite good just prior of a storm

Got on Southwest a day early, no issues. But there were about 20 stand byes, not so lucky. At the East Cape, flat calm in the morning, but all resort boats not in use
were getting pulled, and Palmas was encouraging folks to leave.

You are right, the weather is getting better. Maybe you should change professions? You did better than the Harvard grads
