Had our charter on the Fury last weekend and had some nice chovies in the tank. I thought I was gonna wreck the bass on them but they didn't seem to want them. Best anchovies I have seen in years! Good sign.........albacore are a comin'

When the receivers were full of anchovies and anchovies were all the bait you could get, we used to wish we had sardines or brown bait.

I can't say I always want anchovies but I was taught to fish with anchovies and caught my first yellowtail, albacore, etc on them. Nice big neon chovies.....can't wait! Want to catch a picky bluefin?

I loved fishing anchovies. Sardines made fishing easy but is not the best bait.

It definitely takes more finesse, but for inshore fishing give me the anchovies.

    Big bait, big fish.

    Lings love Sand Dabs.

    Halibut, bass, love brown bait.

Live squid is best. Easy to use (except for the ink mess) Imo

And yet one of the reasons we cannot the big bluefin is they are full of small red crabs and anchovies. Big baits are just easier to use. Granted lings like big baits or lures. And bass love anchovies.

Best, full speed, non-stop spawning Bass fishing days I ever had were all on the Chove. Like run back in and tank back up with more, later in the day realize that work is going to be a mess because your right thumb looks like you ran a belt sander on it.

    Yup, the Bass love them.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I am anxiously awaiting your report and photos of your 200# plus bluefin caught on a red crab or pinhead anchovie.

just messing with you........but my thinking is along the lines of if somebody is that "anti anchovy" they either have never fished them or can't fish them right...
