Took my daughter out on the new Sea forth Saturday morning.
Boarded the boat at 6:00 Am headed to the bait receiver. We took on a nice 50/50 mix of anchovies and nice 5-6 inch sardines. Plan was to run straight out of the harbor to take a look at some yellows that were up splashing around the past couple of days. Three were boarded on Fridays AM trip. I stood ready on the Bow of the boat with my long rod in hand. Found a spot of brezeing yellows with in our first 30 minutes of searching. Fish were fast moving and not willing to react to the chum. We slid up on 3 or 4 different spots of fish one in which I placed my jig perfectly intersecting the boiling fish. No love! The captain said as much as he would like to continue chasing those yellows around he couldn’t spend to much time on it. So we headed to La Jolla to fish bass. At times the bass were instant my 6 year old made fast friends on board. Caught a couple bass and spent most of her time playing with the other kids aboard.
Around 10:00 I hooked into something decent definitely not a bass deck hand said maybe a yellow or White Sea bass. After a nice run and good head shakes I began to gain line. Just at deep color the biggest of the five or six seals around the boat darts straight down at my fish. I felt the rod get heavy and line very quickly dumped off my spool. I wish this story ended with me getting the fish from the seal. Unfortunately after dumping about 250 yards of braid off my real i thumbed down on the spool fishing only 20 pound test And broke off. Seal swam off with my assumed White Sea bass. I still haven’t boated a legal sea bass! Finished the day off strong with a few more bass on the surface iron. All in all my daughter and I had a great day on the water flat calm sunny conditions.

That sounds like a really cool trip. The smile from ear to ear is definitely priceless.

Thinking about her ditching you and playing with the other kids makes me happy that people are bringing their kids fishing with them.

    Thanks for the report.

Awesome👍🏼....🤦‍♂️ sorry to hear about the haunting fish? Next time right🤙🏼.
In the pictures it looks like your coming out of SD harbor. Did you ride out of H&M or fisherman's landing?
