Went to CISCOS to fish Aloha Spirit finally got out with this being my 1st time out this year w/o hesitation I bought my yearly fishing license at the landing(more on this later). With high hopes and squid in the tanks Shaun announced we're going to the arch and fish gamefish with some ghosts & yellows being caught the last few days.
Well no love for me on the game fish we ended up with 6 nice yellows at Anacapa then ran over to Santa Cruz island and ended up with 1 rat yellow and a flatfish
and Shaun said we are going to rockfish in the gap then run back to the arch as a couple sea bass we're caught to end our day.
On our way someone spotted what appeared to be a diver on cliffs waving his arms for help. Turns out this dude was free swimming. And was chased up the cliffs from a couple of sea dogs trying to bite him as he got too close to them and their pups so the crew got ready to pluck him off of the island Shaun got the boat in position and he jumped back into the water and swam over to the boat and crew got him onboard
We took him back to his point of origin and dropped him off(I got some pics but they suck)
Rockfished for about an hour I managed a 1/2 limit finished the day back at the arch for nada. overall nice day spent on the water
Ana in the galley serving up great grub as usual
I'll try again Sunday on the island tak
Dept of wildlife doing a license check when we returned to the dock good thing I had mine
    A few pics I got
Fish pics stolen off aloha's fake book page

Hey Danny! Sounds like an exciting day on the water! I was surfing in HB not too long ago and while on the cliffs we saw a fellow surfer paddling for his life with a seal right behind him. The seal took a chunk out of his foot.....bloody mess! Crazy thing to see!

Cool report, ..wow.. that guy on the rocks, I wonder how far his comfort zone goes? was he spearing, abalone diving or just out for a swim with the seals.. (and the man in the gray suit)?? solo? pretty nuts, wonder how long he was sitting on those rocks and how long he would have been there if you guys didn`t show up

Story reminds me of something that occurred in the early 70's. 3/4 day boat Paradise Cove in Malibu. Large Point Dume navigational buoy approximately 2 miles off beach. Guy was on top of the buoy completely naked and completely wasted. He swam out there from the beach. Didn't want a ride in. Stated that didn't need any help and that his was perfectly fine!
