Hey Everyone after long awaited i get to finally post something of relevance here on BD I was out Friday and Sun out in the Kona waters, we caught 3 ono in the alley to the north about pines trees 1 was 30+ and another was a clean release right at the boat (meaning I was too so with the gaff) about the same, and another about 20 lbs, which we caught in a school because we had another bite at the same time the other came off right away. We found the porpoise school to the north but with no avail and there was also a floating cargo net just north of OT buoy that was holding lots of Mahi but no taker there were catching them on ballyhoo. Sunday was a great day as well I was out with a friend and we hooked up with a 160 ahi great catch for a short trip we were out about 5 hours
Way to get after them Chris, Looks like the boat didn't suffer any from it's tranfer to the Big Island; way to bloody its decks... Pat
that floater was unreal.it was someones private buoy more like. i got some photos of it.we got a double strike on lures there.no bait on board due to tournament rules.one skinny ono and a sperm mahi-mahi. left it ran straight out to the 2k and found the porpoise school working. all you could see was greenstickers and skiffs for miles.what a nice site to see, knowing summer is here.
Aloha Chris, welcome to the Islands...you put yourself at the fishing capital of the world in Kona & caught an AHI on your second day out! Many Islanders would drool over your catch so soon! Great catch & post!
