A constructive criticism of the new site software.....

In iOS (IPhone in my case), If you create a link to bdoutdoors.com on your home screen then use that icon thereafter to view fishing reports, etc, Safari is put into 'web app' mode whereby Safari hides the address bar at the top and the navigation bar at the bottom. This effectively cripples navigation because the back/forward buttons are no longer available and you can't refresh the page. So imagine launching BD via this link, viewing one topic, then being unable to hit a back button to get back to the first screen. Further, because the app is in 'web app' mode, if you go back to the iOS home screen and hit the BD icon again (say, one day later) the page does not auto refresh. You must kill Safari to refresh the page contents and start from the original page you intended.

This is all caused by the new software enabling the 'apple-mobile-web-app-capable' element (https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/AppleApplications/Reference/SafariWebContent/ConfiguringWebApplications/ConfiguringWebApplications.html) which tells Safari that the web page will handle all UI navigation. Trouble is, it doesn't.

The only way to work around this as a user is to manually open Safari, then navigate to bdoutdoors.com or save a bookmark. Hate to bitch about the new software -- I really like the idea of a mobile first experience and support your desire to update -- but this 'feature' is absolutely infuriating.

@Jason -- could you please remove the 'apple-mobile-web-app-capable' element from the new software? Try placing an iOS home screen link to bdoutdoors.com and use the site. You'll quickly get frustrated trying to simply go back/forward and refresh.

iFish.net does this same thing. Super annoying. I eventually gave up on the site.

Guys, a quick heads up. Today at work after checking out BD I went to my usual PORNHUB and XVIDEOS sites and they were WAY slower than usual. Frustratingly slow... Somehow the changes you guys made screwed that up too. Could you guys fix that? I think this issue would be more important than the colors and brightness issues.

Thanks!!
They need closed captioning in the videos too

The developers are reading this thread. Did they fix it or am I not seeing something? Arrows work fine and I started from a home screen button I just remade ( I always use homescreen buttons for sites...)

This was caused by BD being down. All the members were on "other" sites.

The all white scheme is not pleasing IMHO. I am not going to resize all of my pictures to share or sell any of my equipment. Way to big of a hassal and it messes up my personal library. I liked being able to see how many posts somebody had and that feature is now gone. It had the right look before someone 'fixed' it. For me, it is almost unusable for sharing.....Ap

When you press their avatar, it tells you when they joined. And how many messages (posts) they have.
