These things hurt.
92.8# on a certified scale. The painful part was an hour and 20 minutes pulling on a 90J and 40lb...half of the time spent on my knees rail rodding it haha
That must have been a work out... Congrats...
That fish looks surprised at its predicament.
What a toad! I have heard Opah are great too eat!
Congrats, that's a beautful fish!!!
Wow !!! Very Cool .
Attaboy Mike, nice Iron Work!!!
90J...was it on a surface iron?
good stuff there
what did it eat
Nice feesh Mike
good job! those fish are delicious the tri tip of the ocean!
90J is obviously my surface iron stick. But I was too lazy to even bring my 665H on the trip, so I just said, "Eff it, even if I hook a yellow on my Sabre on the yo-yo, it wont last that long." Famous last words haha. Daiwa 40 6.1:1(did NOT help), 40lb BG, and a Tady 4/0 all white w/glo-back...dropped the jig til I hit the knot on my top shot(long top shot cuz it's my jigstick), about 70 yds. Got thumped about 50yds down...
Got it off a paddy about 110 from PL. Our 2nd day, we fished the tuna pens and were only about 85mi when we were gettin blues up to 43.5lbs..
Nice one Mike!
Last year "Jig Stick" & I learned to never ever, ever, ever, ever drop the jig down deep on the jig stick!
Had a buddy "Whiteyfish" on my 2day charter do the same, dropped the megabait down deep on his 9ft Teremar...
Never know what could be down there & losing a fish of a lifetime will haunt you...
30+ minutes later not making any gains on getting her up & finally line broke as what most likely was a huge Opah inhaled the entire jig per Capt Markus.
So ya im sure it did hurt, would have hurt even more if you busted ger off.
beautiful fish....the hard way!
