My insurance provider sent us our new Obamacare policy. Only $5000 more per year in premiums. Our deductible only increased $1000 and our out of pocket expenses by only $1350 each. On top of that we are looking forward to the corresponding decrease in taxes we will pay since everyone will have insurance now

I for one can't wait for this thing to happen.
I was self employed and paid for Kaiser for many years for my soon to X and myself.
I dropped it for six months while I took a job in Florida. No Kaiser in Fl.
Six months. They would not take me back or the X I was to fat and she takes high pressure meds.
Uninsurable at 50. Now I'm 56 and worried that when something happen I'm ruined.
So I spent the day tring to get signed up. And I will pay what ever they charge.
The high risk insurance was $1800.00 per mouth at 50. Just impossible to do.
So there is the other side of things.

If you want to live with a bunch of gangsters, like sitting on the porch all day (from noon - til about midnight everyday), and enjoy watching all the jobless people steal shit, you can get on some government aide. They will give you free housing, free spending money, and food stamps, that will help offset the increases LOL

I guess that is a silver lining for some.
My wife had a pre-existing condition also, when her employment and insurance ran out, it was very difficult to get coverage. We were ultimately lucky and did get coverage. And yes would be a house payment for some, and now the cost includes a vacation house as well

    Yes exactly.

Health Insurance has two big trends right now; making consumers responsible for their own life style choices and "lowering costs" (which will be accomplished by passing cost down to the consumer). The affordable care act has popularized a concept called "essential health benefits" and prevents insurance companies from dening coverage for pre-existing condiitions. Unfortunately that cost does not just go away. So guess what happens? It's going to get passed back down to the consumer and rates will be very very high for the high risk populations.

I am seeing lots of plans that are placing incentives on key metrics like body mass index, blood pressure, cholesteral, etc. If you make the targets all is good, you get a rebate or lower rates. For those that do not make those targets, or continue to smoke, rates will sky rocket, deductibles will go up, and out of pocket max will go up.

We will also see lots of companies that will no longer offer benefits to part time employees. Other companies will likely drop coverage all together and provide an incentive and expect the employee to get coverage on their own via the new exchange market.

Lot's of things happening. Some very good concepts coming out of this. But, as usual, it's very very flawed in the execution and does little to address the root cause of the problems.

What has been done to ensure all these newly insured people have access to proper healthcare? The system is already overloaded and there is no way to support millions of additional patients who can now see a doctor to get a box of Kleenex. I know a doctor who worked at Kaiser and patients actually did that.

A lot of doctors don't find the practice of medicine as appealing as it once was. It'll get tougher and tougher to attract the brightest young minds into the medical field. Instead, the current administration wants to fill the void with glorified nurses.

Bad enough I have to pay more. It really sucks that I'm getting less for my money.

My insurance rates went up 18%. I pay more for my insurance than my house and wife's suv payment together. This is getting ridiculous. I can't afford any more of our presidents affordable rates or gimmicks. Enough is enough quit spending our money!!!!!!!!

elections have consequences....what will the next one bring...because it is obvious you guys aren't satisfied yet keep electing the same people to the house and senate...i'm not pointing fingers but those that continue to elect people that want more nets and safety will relinquish freedoms for the price of security...I think some famous American had a quote about that...but then they were just rich old whiteguys that didn't have a clue about todays world( yes that is sarcasm)

So, your insurance didn't go up over the past 12 years?

I remember 9/11. I got nailed big time! Why? What the fuck did 9/11 have to do with my insurance?

People who blame Obama for their insurance going up are dumbasses - (business too, because I'm sick of paying for it as a tax payer). Too simple of a scapegoat, but its an easy one. Too bad you necks don't read and follow the Heritage foundation and other policies adopted world wild over the years, but that would reading beyond a photo on facebook with less than 140 characters...
