thought I would pass this on

California’s “annual” fishing license is the most expensive in the country, and it is NOT valid for a full 12-months from the date of purchase. This is simply not fair. This may explain why annual fishing license sales have decreased (CSL Study) over 55% since 1980. Simply stated, fishing license are facing a death spiral and reform is long overdue.

Join the California Sportfishing League in supporting a package of bills that aim to make fishing more accessible and affordable.
    • 12-month fishing license
    • Make fishing free for kids (under 18 yrs.)
    • Stop local agencies from passing illegal fishing restrictions, like pier fishing bans

CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION (I inserted LINK at top)

If State Legislators don’t hear from California anglers, they will assume that we like the idea of a costly and antiquated fishing license system, and even more fishing restrictions.

Act now and thank you for forwarding this email to fellow anglers.

Ps. If you represent a fishing organization, club or business and wish to support CSL's legislative package. Contact Marko Mlikotin, Executive Director, [email protected]

Signed, but there are so many other factors that have caused the dramatic drop in fishing licenses sales.

Face it, Ca. is a anti-fishing hunting state.

"This is why State Senate Bill 345 was sponsored by CSL and authored by Senator Tom Berryhill. The legislation calls for abandoning California’s archaic “calendar” based system for a license that is valid for a full-12-months from the date of purchase, so anglers get a full 365-day value for their investment"

Signed. My brother goes to school in Indiana and their non-resident fishing license is $17. Public lakes are also free to launch your boat in. Makes you think about just how many layers of bureaucratic bullshit we're paying for

I recently heard that license sales were down 20% for the same time last year.

If that's true, Sacremento is scurrying around in a panic because that's 20% less funds they can squander for other things. The license fees we pay pretty much go towards anything BUT fishing.
