So I have read this bill a few times and I still can't figure out what areas specifically will be closing.

A lot of it is actually freshwater, but there are some more saltwater closures just not sure where. Don’t quote me on this but I think I heard all of La Jolla would be closed

Just out of curiosity, where are you finding information on the bill, in relation to what is going to be effected . Honestly I have read through a good bit of it, but i have not done much research. From my understanding we are facing far more than aquatic closures, a large part of the bill is land based.

To my understanding anyways.

This is true, a lot of businesses will be effected. And sure it may or may not effect international waters, that is a plus for those of us fishing offshore. But what about the rest of the season, when we are not specifically targeting pelagic species.

I read it. They did dull down some of the language, but the issue is exactly what you stated, it is overly vague & ambiguous. Just what power grabbing politicians love, latitude.

If it stays that way it may not survive legal, but in CA, hard to say.

More slow death. Honestly it is the healthiest I have ever seen our local fishing. I have a hard time seeing a need for more.

I heard this on let’s talk Shimano. I think the land based closures are probably the freshwater closures.

Given the vague wording (intentional of course) this bill could have really far reaching consequences. Public access, water , timber, riparian habitat, not to mention fisheries. It really gives anybody who comes along after a viable legal argument for shutting down ALL kinds of things on a wide scale which if history tells us anything is going to be really, really bad.

"What started as an international environmental plan to restrict the use of 30 percent of all land and water is now being driven to the extreme here in California with an ocean focus on additional marine protected areas (MPAs) with AB3030"
A vote for ANY california democrat is a vote against hunting, fishing, shooting, camping, offroading etc by the public in california.Im shocked when i see anyone on an outdoors site like this one say their voting democrat,Its not your fathers democratic party anymore.

I believe this is not going to go our way.Since when in California will politicians listen to the thousands that are against it ? This state is controlled by one party and that party usually gets their way.

This is the driving force behind it: https://www.campaignfornature.org/why-30-1

The mentality, from people outside of the US who started this, is we need to close 30% of everything to people. What they are targeting for us is:

"1/3 of the global fish stocks are overfished & 1/3 of the freshwater fish are threatened"

The tile the spells that out is about 1/3 of the way down on the link above.

Think they don't want MPA's?

From the site and just below the tile:

"In the 1990s, Cabo Pulmo, near Baja California, Mexico, was an underwater desert. Local fishermen were so upset at not having enough fish to catch that they did something nobody expected—they decided to stop fishing completely.

They asked the Mexican government to create a national park 70 km2 in size in the sea.

In just ten years, what had been an underwater desert was now a kaleidoscope of life and color. The total fish biomass in the reserve increased by more than 460% and large predators like groupers, sharks and jacks had returned.

But it wasn’t just a miraculous turnaround for marine life, it was also one for the visionary fishermen.

By protecting this area as a Marine Protected Area (MPA) with a clear conservation management plan and robust enforcement of that plan, the area was able to recover —nature was given space and opportunity to thrive once again. This success led to a profitable diving tourism industry within the reserve and even spilled over into the surrounding waters where local fisherman were able to reap the benefits of a healthier, more sustainable marine ecosystem."

We are the target here. This is a large scale grab to close everything to us. They aren't disguising it.

And there are lots of folks on this very forum that continue to vote for Democrats. These fuckers will continue until all Hunting, fishing and gun ownership is outlawed. Every year they take more and more from California sportsman and gun owners.

To be clear, these idiots aren't going to the real offenders like China, Russia, South America, Malaysia, Africa... etc.

They are coming to the US because we are a bunch of boneheaded, liberal, socialist leaning, school teacher mentality, participation award, Prius driving assholes.
