I got the chance to go with my very good friend Jeff Mariani and my son Tyler to Cedros Island. We were the first guests at his new house he is building. I have been to the island before with Cedros Adventures. It was really fantastic this time to get to meet and interact with the local people on the island. The people on the island are as nice as the waters that surround the island are beautiful. I did my best to talk to everyone of them with my SPANGLISH. Everywhere we went we were met with “Hello” “Good morning” and “how was the fishing?”

We arrived on Wednesday with a monsoon following closely, we landed literally minutes before the rain hit. We got hit with several inches of rain in the next few hours. The storm cleared and each day was prettier than the next. We got the chance to visit Jeff’s new store Cedros Tackle and meet with Omar his partner.

We had the chance to fish on Jeff’s Panga and it was a real game-changer to have the Garmin chart plotter and fish finder. We were able to find some great spots. It was fun to see David our captain learn to use the fish finder. Tyler and I both were able to break our personal bests on Yellow Tail.

The best part was spending time with my son, I cherish this time with him. It won’t be long before grandchildren come along and we won’t have these opportunities to spend time together.

By the way on our last day we headed to Punta Norte and Tyler and I each caught over 100 Calico's each and lost count of the ones that were over five pounds. At one point I went 5 for 5 and they were all over 5 pounds.
