Launched at 630 with my good buddy Michael and headed north towards del mar to get some rockfish. We skipped getting bait and were at my spot shortly, the seas were amazing today.
Fishing was a little slow at first, but once the tide shifted things picked up and we put a nice limit of reds and sheepshead on the boat. Fish bit squid well and we fished 150 to 170ft of water.
Once we got our fill we started searching for the yellow kind. There was zero surface signal today so we metered around looking for marks. After about an hour of nothing promising I got a couple scratches near the bottom in 130ft. We both dropped down and I get bit almost instantly followed by Michael hooking up. We landed both fish pretty quickly and decided that was enough.
My fish came on the mint/ white JRI 66 and the other fish came on a 100 gram sniper. Another fun day and back to the ramp by noon. Good luck and stay safe!
