We headed over to La Jolla to do some
rock fishing and that was good
but then some yellow tail decided to come play

The rock fish were eating the live bait good and so were the yellow tail
I got a really good variety this morning
Yellow tail, sheepshead, red rock cod, salmon grouper, white fish, and bank perch

Wow !
pretty weird , but great catch.
Definitely not weird. Yellows are often found down deep. And when they do bite they are usually the nicer grade Yellows.

Very jealous of your half day trip! I see trips like this from time to time, but every time ive been on a half day it was 50+ a bunch of tangles and "numbers" fishing.

Headed out 4 30p from shores on my 12 ft inflatable i should name..."hurry up and get my repower completed"

Makes for some inexpensive trips i will say that! Heard YT at LJ so scrambled out of house at 3

Was trolling broken back rebel and chrome crokodile for bonies. It was all you wanted on smaller grade. Last week there some 10lbers around. Got zinged hard around 6 15 - Rod was clipped to some rope with a brass clip. It jumped the pontoon and thought I lost my rod- the clicker was screaming under water. Im pretty strong and i could not grab it with motor in gear. Let off the throttle and grabbed rod. Could not get damn clip off - knew it was gone. Broken back rebel came back with the front and middle trebbles bent up. I got to feel the fish a little- felt hefty. Time to change out to a different clip- still getting things dialed in for inflatable after 10 or so launches
