    I'm still trying to figure out why San Diegans pronounce Garnet like the basketball player Kevin's surname. I do understand the joke, however.

    It would be easy to mistake the two streets as the naming of the beach streets is a little confusing. The courts in Mission Beach are named for beaches and the places for the Missions. Then in Pacific beach the streets are named after precious stones, for the most part. There are many omissions, corrections and even misspellings amongst an otherwise orderly list of names, so be aware of what street you're actually on when at the beach... :D
