Just came back from an awsome 4-day trip to Ensenada onboard Perry's beautifull 35' Cabo Express "Hall-o-day".
Four of us enjoyed three nights in Hotel Coral Marina and fished approx 40 NM (238) to SW.
On Friday 8/19 we checked a lot of kelp paddies, unfortunatelly most of them happened to be dry.
We found a few paddies holding YT, and we cought a few, lost a few.
Then, on the way back to the HC we had a strike on a cedar plug - marlin!
Jerry took the helm and I reeled trolling gear in and cleared the deck (cooler, kill bag, deck chairs) for Perry.
The line was 30# so we knew the fight was not going to be short.
Jerry did a great job moving the boat and backing up on fish.
After an hour, Perry did everything right and managed to bring the fish to the boat, I leadered the fish and grabbed his bill trying to remove the hook and release this beautiful animal. Unfortunatelly, the hook of the cedar plug went through his eye ball and he was already bleeding a lot, with no chance of survival, if released. So, we had to kill him and bring him in the boat.
Here are a few pics.
Again, what an awsome trip, on a great boat and with great people:
Thanks Perry, Marrie, Jerry.
