Left MB at 2:30. No bait as the plan was to troll. We started at the north end of the 9 and made our way south. Trolling 2 spreader bars, a cedar plug and a feather. We found some bery active dolphin and it seemed like fish were mixed in. Trolled around them twice and Got hit on the yellow and pink spreader around 6:00pm. Total Rodeo on the boat with 2 kids and the reel broke and we hand-lined it in. Small 30 lb bluefin.

Trolled some more and hooked up 2 more times on a small madmac. Dorado threw the hook both times at the boat.

Great day over all. The boys had a blast and we are eating sushi!

Oh jeez. Amateur hour over here as this is literally the first Tuna ive caught on my boat. How can you tell?
It's all good - you caught a tuna from your own boat, more than many of us can say!

You got one on your own boat our back yard, and you got to sink you knife into it. (My favorite part)

Was it caught near a patty ?
No pattys spotted during this encounter. We found some active dolphins and it looked like fish were mixed in by the way they were hitting the bait. Trolled around the outside of the action and hooked up when we were behind the school.

^^^ that looks yummy. Technically it’s sashimi. Sushi means “with rice". Such as a piece of rawfish on top of rice is sushi.

Sushi is actually the rice itself and can be garnished with everything from vegetables to fish or horse.
Nigiri is the fish over rice dish and sashimi is raw fish.
We live in a place and time where none of that matters though. People call California yellowtail “Hamachi” but you’ll go blue in the face trying to correct them
