Started the day o'dark thirty from pepper park. Half scoop lasted all day and much better than what i've gotten from MB this past month. Wind was up at was we left the point and water was green and cold (66) . Cruised through south 9 before it started to warm to 70. Dropped the troll and had a skippie instantly. Thought it was a good sign but spent the next hour trolling for nothing. Radio chatter was everything was dead 425, upper hidden, 9. Tired of trolling so decided to speed toward the 101. Spotted a few birds circling and veered to check them out. There was a cluster of birds sitting on the water and spotted a paddy 100 yards away. Looked lifeless but continued to make passes on the slow troll until my son saw a boil. Stopped the boat and he switched to live bait. Bit instantly and it started. chummed heavily while he fought his fish. it took a while on 20lb. Landed the boat's first yellowfin. After cleaning up, started to motor back to paddy and as soon as we put in gear, boils everywhere..we became the paddy. Super fun, every bait was inhaled when it hit the water. Fished it until we ran out of bait. Called another boat in, watched them get bit, and called it a day. 80 miles, 8 hours, all smiles. Seas were fishable but not comfortable.
