    SKUNK trip
Left DPH around 11 am...headed to the 209. Beautiful conditions. Overcast, but lake Pacific
    IMG_7692.JPG
209 Zero fish seen. water 69
312 Zero fish seen, water 69-70
181 Zero fish seen, water 69-70
182 Zero fish seen water 68-69.5
arrived at the 43 about an hour before sunset. Had a few small schools of breaking tuna 10-50 size under birds. Chummed, tossed bait. No love. Long soaks. I got bit clean mid floro leader. I'm thinking baby maco

Followed birds until sunset. I got picked up again but the tuna spit the bait. Chewed halfway up the body. That stop was small 8-10 lb YFT breaking.

Water flat calm for the most part. Light wind.

Set up for the night drift around the 43 and traded off on watches.

    Day 2
I had the last watch, so I was up as the sun came up. I started a chunk line, and put out a bait while the other slept. Had some marks under the boat, nothing really materialized. Flat calm, and overcast.

Worked our way to the corner, and the area where a lot of the Marlin fishing was going on.

Not sure what time it was, but we changed course and started working our way north toward HH.

Hit the 43 again, and worked the ridge to the 289, to the 152/Slide, to the Avalon Bank. Once we were at the 289, we put out all Marlin jigs, no tuna feathers.
    IMG_7688.jpg
Flat calm, and drizzle rain. Saw one Marlin fining, but sunk out water at the slide was up to 70-71, and 71 at the Avalon bank.

No life to speak of. Some blow holes and empty paddies.

We drug tuna feather the entire trip, adn had at least one Marlin jig out.
    IMG_7714.JPG
Got back to HH around 8 pm
    140-150 miles traveled.

Could not ask for nicer conditions.

    I fished 15lb mono with a 15# floro leader, #2 ring hook.
Buddies fished 20 and 30, and larger hooks.
    Trolled everything

    Hey Mike,
Sucks there were no fish to chew on your offerings, but sounds like you had a great trip nonetheless. You're building up some good mojo for when the bite turns back on.

At least you had great sea conditions. I don't get why virtually no fish (this season) are being caught on the troll. Just a weird season....hero or zero season for sure. Thanks for the great information. So cool of you to take the time to report a tough multi day run.

Really good report - thanks for posting. It's a big ocean out here, sometimes we're not at the right place at the right time, but the more we go out, the better our chances of an epic trip. I'll be heading out in the morning myself for next 72 hours with the expected small craft advisories and all, fishing the Pesky, hopefully we'll get lucky and find a carp or two.

Thanks for the report, but don't forget about the consolation rock fish to take the skunk off. Bonito also bring some sort satisfaction on the light string.
    Peace out brotha!

You have inspired me to begin reporting my no-catch trips. I enjoyed reading your report, and the pictures. Moreover, it is encouraging to hear others NOT catching fish. Better luck next time.
