First time posting a report... Going to keep this as brief as possible, without skipping details.. Left MB at 4 am, plan was to head to the 371 (per fishdope) and work outside of the float party, which we knew would exist. Even before first light you could see on the horizon the glow from all the sport boats sitting on the 371 and the 302. So at grey light, my buddies and i almost ran over this paddy, i almost kept driving, but my partner said lets turn around and at least see if it's holding. On the first drift by, threw out my colt sniper and a huge dodo followed it up to within 5-feet of the boat. One more cast, it was game on. Am 11am, we called in the numbers and left the fish biting. Headed home. To add, i had a tough time fielding a crew yesterday. So many fair weather friends. So we ran a light crew, just four. One of them included my wife who had never caught an ocean fish. She caught two big dodos on fly-lined bait that she did all the work on, even hooked the bait. Bad news is I think she's hooked on fishing, and I won't be able to escape now. But at least she understands what the chase and obsession is all about.
