At least you caught one yt. I haven't even been able to catch a rat all season. I was out this am and wind chased me off the water same as Friday. It sucks having a boat in a slip in long beach and too far north to get to them with this damn wind and heavy seas every time we pick to go. I have been trying to get my daughter on her first yt, dodo or tuna and we have had the worst luck. I know its been the best season for everyone else but somehow it has been the worst for me in memory. and to add insult...after waiting in a long line at Nachos for bait...we got the best med sardines yet...a shame to freeze perfectly live bait...but we have done it every week now.

Fished Sunday out of oceanside awesome fishing for three of us.best fishing we had was two miles from harbor entrance.the tuna that we came across were the much bigger models.all three of us bit at the same time all three fish in the 50 to 60 pound class.big fish close to home.ran out of bait so we went back in and loaded up on bait went right back out and it was game on again.big tuna these fish were bigger than the 60 pound models they were 70 plus.go and get them.make sure when your on the way to your destination pay close attention to the water watch for anything that looks deferent .

Did you see Bigfoot casting poppers at the end of the jetty when you passed it? Heard he caught a 75lber.

Sucks to hear, that has been our luck this season. We go out and don't see any puddlers, diving birds, and all we find are dry paddies. It's cool though we will get our killer day soon.

fortunately we happened to check noaa before heading out and decided to stay home. X2 let's see some pics of these 70# pigs that are 2 miles from the harbor entrance. I might just take my float tube out for them next week....

Nice thread jack! You should have run out of bait a 2nd time, gone back in to get more, and then run back out again. You would have been able to catch 100-120 lbers.

To the OP... Tough day. At least you were able to salvage the day with some hamachi! Thanks for the report!

Next fish you catch , punch him out . Always makes me feel better . Also check Sailflow and Swellwatch before you plan your trip . Don' t use NOAA , except for the current bouy data . With all the weather tools on the internet it doesn't have to be a matter of luck . It does take a lot of self control to keep the boat dry when conditions are not great .

Kevin, you are killing me!!! I'm going out next weekend. If you want we can hook up on the radio and hopefully we can get you on some tuna. PM me if you're going out and we'll formulate a plan.

I knew it wasn't just me! About time someone posted a suck ass story. Well, I'm now 0-3 tuna hunting. Thanks to Fatboy for some help - maybe it will help next time! We hit the 267, north, then down to the 209 and back, nada, no birds, 2 empty kelp patties. 2 huge dolphin schools.

Chin up brother. I've been at it local for 30 years, hero one year and zero the next. I got a couple fish early on and since I am 0-3 with the exception of one open-water (on a couple diving Terns) Dorado. The bad times make the good times better...which is why I'm going tomorrow, Friday and Monday...it's a heavenly ride...
