We went out yesterday to try and get on some BFT. I went out with my brother, dad, and friend Efren. The water was glassy grey and the sky overcast with high cloud cover. Started trolling from Avalon Bank around 6am and went towards the area between The Slide/152 and then down to the 277 with a spreader bar and DTX160 Mactuna. Water temperature was 70-71 and increased to 72+ on the west side of the 277. There was bait on the meter the whole way and we did not see many boats until we reached the 277 area where there were many on the drift. There was no surface action on the way down. We trolled around the 277 a while and saw big foamers that sank out as we approached. After a while with nothing happening we went back towards the 152 and saw small foamers that disappeared before we could get close. As we continued up towards the slide we saw small foamers again. Finally we were able to approach them and get one cast before they disappeared. We did not see any surfacing fish the rest of the day while trolling. Several other boats did hook and land them including a guy on a sailboat according to radio traffic. Some guys on the radio said they landed several 3-5pm. We did not get any bites but seeing BFT surfacing for the first time was cool. It probably will get infuriating if we keep seeing and not catching. 🙃 Good luck everyone.

Added some screenshots. No pictures of the foamers since they were gone so fast...

Thanks for the post. So many crews only post their success stories. Lotta time & effort is being poured into this bite right now. Good luck next time out.
Oh yea ~100gal. Some may say that's not that much. 😄 Trolling around the spots helps since our boat is slow and heavy. Not suitable for true run and gun. Maybe after a repower. Not comfortable yet to just sit and drift in the ocean at night. One day we will try to find the night bite!

Thanks for the report, every report is helpful. Been there, done that. All time on the water adds up to success. Timing is everything! Right place, right time, right bait. Like the pics too. Looking forward to the full fish locker pics next time!
