Good day on the pond.
It's all about the right paddy and soaking baits. We left MB at 6am and made minimacs (40) outside the jetty. The minimacs were key and we left fish biting due to end of bait and time. We found many paddies 15nm outside of Del Mar, but it was the last one that produced. Saw the fish (school of Dodos) as soon as we pulled up, but it took a while to get them to go. Called my buddies in to increase the chances. Only landed one in the first hour. Then a stink boat came in to "look" on top of the paddy, fortunately they got bored quickly and moved on. After that, it was a steady pick of dodos every 20 minutes. I would just wait for them to pop up then throw out my fresh bait and get picked up immediately.
Ended up with 6 dodos and two tails and as many lost. No comment. They were all nicer grade fish.
Go get em', and I would suggest doing an afternoon thing. Wait for everyone to leave, the wind to die, and the fish to bite.
