Plan was to head to 302 and check the 9/canyon on the way. We never made it to the 302. Found our first school 11 miles out, and it was game on. Wide open foamer fishing on surface iron, popper and stickbait. Fish were so aggressive around slack tide that you could drive right next to them and they didn’t care and bit everything you throw at them. We saw several other boats were driving right by acres of foaming tuna without stopping.
BFT and YFT of different size were all mixed in.
We had our fill around 9:30, kept 8 bluefin/4 yellowfin (25-65lbs)and released another 5 that were sub 20lbs
Spent next few hours chasing non biting mahi and called it around 1:30pm and dropped off the fish at Mario’s in mission bay.
For all you ice police out there, we had saltwater slush in the kill bags and drained it at the dock right before the pics were taken.
