Quick report… never found a one stop shop magic paddy for US limits of 10 each but ended up picking up a few at a time (dorado) on multiple paddies.

All in all hit about 15 paddies and I think we caught fish on about 6 of them or so.

At the end of the day we ended up with 17 dorado and 1 nice yellowtail.

Decent grade on all of em with only a couple small dorado.

We went towards north 9 but stopped short of it about 5 miles and then turned northwest to stay inside of the 9 and 178 and continued towards 312… never made it to 312, turned east to head in towards Carlsbad before working south back to the point.

Back at slip around 330.

Only bummer was bait quality which was pretty damn pathetic but that’s what we get for going on a Monday… definitely would have caught more if we had decent bait.

Not sure if there was much secret other than trying our best to hit a route that would have less chance of having paddies that have already been hit hard.

We definitely threw a handful of pieces of chum but not sure how much it mattered, certainly didn’t hurt though.

also… all paddies produced pretty quick then lockjaw so we never spent a ton of time on a paddy after it stopped biting and went to find another.

never stopped on any paddy that someone else was already on, keep going to find your own.

lastly, dropped to 20lb but first handful of fish was caught on 30, so once again not sure how much that was needed either.

In Mexican waters it is. In CA waters it is 10 qty per person.

10 per in US which is the only reason we didn’t go paddy hop south of the border which absolutely would have had less crowds.
