Just got back in so I’ll make this short and sweet for anyone going out in the next couple of days.
Started at islands and there were yellows around but it wasn’t wide open… (were spoiled from our last trip haha).
We went 4 for 7 there with a real monster standout that was every bit of 25lbs, maybe more.
Popped offshore looking for kelps, found 3 southwest of south islands and all were dry… although we didn’t give it too much time because Cody called us in to his with dorado jumping around.
Of course, they were not chewing everything and we had to work for the one we got to go… still thankful for that dorado - thanks Cody!
Went northwest looking for foamers around slack tide but didn’t see a damn thing until we got close to the 9.
Did my best to NOT fish there knowing how many boats were there… finally gave in and as we were approaching the “zone” I slowed the boat to glass around and saw boils nearby… yelled for my guys to throw some chum and had them blowing up on our chum a bit… my dad got a bait in, I had a bait in and he got hooked up fast. I didn’t have the tuna luck on my side this trip but my buddy did and he hooked up so we had two hanging.
That was cool and fun on light line bait fishing.
Got em both in the boat… around 30lb each, 1 BF and 1 yellowfin.
That was our day!
Fish are out there.. go get em and good luck.
