Hey everyone. We went out Saturday nite in hopes of catching some Akule. Our plan for catching Akule didnt work out to well, we ended up with about 15lbs. I doesnt help either if im the only one staying up and the other two guys fall asleep. So at about 5am my dad wakes up and decides that we should run to the pinnacle and see if we can find something. I stay up long enough to put the lines out, after that I decided since i was up for over 20+ hours maybe i should take a nap. That didnt last to long, about a hour into my nap im waken by my friend dave yelling get up get up. So at this point i know we got a fish on. Get on deck and decided i better put the camera out before we miss the good stuff. At first we though that it was a Marlin because of the way it ran, but once we saw the line going straight down with no air show we knew we had what we really wanted. We normally run or center really long and sometimes right behind the white wash. This day we decided to run it right behind the white wash, thats what made us think that it was probably a marlin. We got the fish to leader in about 15-20min. We used a .44 bangstick to put it out. We decided to start using blanks because of saftey reasons, but after this ahi and the last ahi its time to go back to the hollow points cause the blanks are crap and dont seem to kill the fish. Normal hollow points kill them instantly, as u will see from the video thats not the case. We had only 150lbs of ice and thought that we could only ice 1 fish really good so we decided to head straight in. We hooked the fish at about 730 on the outside of the pinnacle. Fish turned out to be 144lbs. Lure was a 7" with blue outside and yellow pink inside.

I heard they are going off today. Go get um and tight lines everyone.

Nice bloody deck, alright. Good going on the ahi!

You're right about using blanks. Without a projectile, you're just pumping hot gases into the fish, so the shot has to be placed strategically. I use blanks, and I try to hit them in (or close to) the eye.

Awesome vid, love the dialogue. Sick lures too.

Is it too late in the year to get ahi fever again? I think I'm relapsing.

This ahi and the last 1 did the same thing when hit with the blank. This one was hit square and still went crazy. So after this its time to go back to the real deal.

This is a lighter blue and a popper. The other one is a bullet with no jets.

Yeah no sense pounding 10 ahi when u only have enough ice to take care of one or two. I would rather have one or two good ones rather than 10 burned ones.

I dont think its ever to late in the year to get ahi fever again lol.

I'd like to use real ammo that can instantly stop 'em in their tracks. Heh, to tell you the truth, though, having a .44 blank armed at the end of a bang stick with the fish misbehaving next to the boat is already pretty scary. [IMG]

Nick, went to Roy's today... he rigged up one of your heads today for me... same flower colors, just the head had red eyes, not gold... where you like to run this thing? on the center rigger or what? gonna try it out this weekend... proud supporter of local lure makers...
