Hello All,
I haven’t bought tackle lately and am interested in getting a longer stick to use with my Avet sxj for casting sardines. Currently using a Phenix Axis 7’2” rated 25-60. Although this is a nice rod for fighting a fish I’m not as good at casting sardines with it as I am with a Calstar 270h 8’ which I use for 25#. What do you think?
Thanks,
Mick

An SXJ for 30#? How about a Phenix psw809h. I like 7’6” bait rods so I use the UC Tilefish Jr and psw760h.

Have a Tilefish jr with a penn torque 15xn, it's the best 30# pound combo I've ever fished. Got a 150# bluefin on it last year on 30# had to use every inch of line with 50# solid izor spectra backing, and a 10 foot topshot of Seiko floracarbon, took a hour and a half! That tilefish jr is a great 30# rod, I highly recommend it!

As others have posted above, I have a 7'6" UC Tilefish Jr. that I love for 30#. However... you want an 8' stick. My 8'0" UC Terminator is a bad-ass 40# stick, but the rod rating is 30 - 60# and it casts a 'dine really well. Definitely worth a look.

I like the cal star 800ml. A little more tip for the sardine lob. A lot of great options though.

Scott

I think the Seeker, Hercules line...
    SHS 80H-8'8'20-40

I have the older hercules 30~60, 8ft. I use an Avet MXJ(Rap) and it is a great light weight combo and a great Wahoo bait outfit.
Tip is soft and backbone is strong. I usually fish at 40 but the 20~40 should be perfect at 30.
