Left Dana Point at 5:00am and headed for the 43 in some fairly large swells. The water was dirty at the 43 and no signs of tuna so we kept working south of the 43 looking for better water only to find bigger swells stacking up. We decided to head northwest back onto the ridge and look around on calmer waters. Didn’t see anything too promising and it looked like a desert so we headed to the 289. A few miles short we begun to see birds, dolphins, flyers, and kelp paddies though the water was still very dirty. Paddy hopped around there for a while and found 3 paddies holding yellows but couldn’t get any to eat our sardines. Back to DP at 3:00pm

There are some really nice paddies around the 289-181 area. If anyone’s passing through the area, it may be worth checking out.
