Got out of work early and ran the boat down to Dana Landing pointed for the 181 around 1pm. Lumpy and breezy but it laid down. Never made it to the 181 and chased foamer after foamer all afternoon. Bluefin and Yellowfin.

    Ok
Finally got a decent sized Bluefin to take a medium sized Halco popper but broke off after a short battle. Nothing else stuck for three of us. They would stay up for two, maybe three casts into them then they were under the boat. Fun, "Run and Gun" style fishing. We each took turns driving the boat and yelling at each other not to run over fish. It was stupid but it was a lot of fun.. but frustrating. Poppers, stick baits, coltsnipers, surface iron and SK jigGreat afternoon on the water.

My first bluefin trip ever. Me and two buddies, both which fish many San Diego party boats, shot out of dana point at 5:30 am. I was saying that so many posts and fish caught were not far out at all. We shot straight to sci for some also new to me yellowtail fishing. Ended up having few gd hours playing with Calico bass about 12- 14 inches. Then shot back and started scouting. We didn't see anything out there, but about 7miles straight out The harbor coming in,, we find a huge area getting ripped. My buddies said the size of the jumpers in the middle could be about 30-120lbs. My fist witness. It was amazing. They dropped after few casts as well.
