I took some friends out and seeing they all were newbies I decided to keep in in close to shore instead of making an off shore run. Left the dock at 7:30, picked up some pretty weak bait at EB and mad a run to the NW corner in Lajolla. Water was like glass and was able to make 30Kts the entire way. We had a steady pick of barries and ended up with 7 keepers. We had 1 YT hooked up and lost it a the boat when she tried to stop it from running. About 1 Pm the rest of our bait rolled so we headed down the try some of my spots for bottom critters for no joy as the wind had picked up and I couldn't hold the spot. Decided to head in the bay and pick up some more bait to fish for some butts. This bait was super strong and held up the rest of the day. Drifted a couple of my favorite spots for a steady pick of the flat fish. Caught about 10 with 5 keepers in about 2 hrs The biggest one was 28" and about 8#. All in all a really good day on the water.

Damn! Sounds like a fun day. Looks like the crew had fun....unless it was just you who caught all the butts. Sounds like you also saved some gas!

$50 plus a $3 tip on the 1st half scoop. I should of went back before I left the bay. I saw we had allot of scales in the water and thought about it. Next time I'll know.

Now that's the way to turn newbies into anglers! I bet they'll be back for more after a day like that! Right On Daryl!
