Fished the Pursuit yesterday. Very affordable and awesome boat. Anyway, we Endeded up Fishing a kelp on the way to the island and my buddy hooked a dorado. A couple others got bit as well. These dorado are local now in the channel to Catalina I can’t stress this enough. Unfortunately we only got one dodo off the paddy.

But the yellowtail grade and Seabass grade was amazing. I haven’t seen the grade of these fish at Catalina since the 90s.

Anyways, if any of you private boaters want to do some fishing. The kelps are holding locally. Sorry no pics I’m sure everyone has seen 10-15 lb yellowtail before. And I don’t have a pic of the dorado. It’s on Terrence’s site if you want the full scoop from Captain John.

    Cheers!

sounds like a great day. what part of the island did you fish, and what was the bait? I was over there yesterday too, fished the front side with squid, but couldn't get the yellows to go.

That dodo was big, I saw the pics. What were the actual sizes on the Yellows and WSB?

    The report shows:
    4 Yellowtail,
    1 Dorado,
    1 White Seabass

    2 Barracuda, 10 Sheephead,80 Blue Perch, 61 Calico Bass, 25 Whitefish, 12 Opaleye, 1 Bonito,

We used chovy and dines for the Pelagics at cat. One was hooked on a flat fall during a boil.

    But to re iterate:
The Pursuit is affordable and well maintained. Captain john is extremely serious about Fishing and will get his boat on fish regardless of the affordability.

I was shocked the boat stopped on the way to cat on a paddy. I was expecting a boat ride and drinking beer. Nope not on the Pursuit you hop on and you’re already fishing. Absolutely amazing. If this board had reviews for sport boats I give 5 out of 5.

When was the last time your Catalina trip ended up catching dodos? Lets be honest to one another. Not often and this trip did. Congrats to the lucky angler

10-15 lbs biggest was around 20 lb. I can’t stress enough about quality though. These yellows are your typical yellows we use to catch at farnsworth bank back in the day. They fight long and hard.

I had only bass gear messing with the calicos btw. Was gonna take home some sculpin for sashimi. But we didn’t end up Fishing any spots.

It seemed like west end. But I haven’t fished Cat in years so I may be mistaken. I always fish Clemente for yellows. But bait was sardines seems like yellows are over the candy bait squid because of hot weather.

Well I haven’t been on that trip. And surely you haven’t this year. So why be a dick? You’re the main reason why people don’t report posts here.

i really enjoy the pursuit when there is less than 40 people on the boat, which pretty much doesn’t happen during the summer. I really wish they would do limited load trips. I’d gladly pay more for it. No way I’d get on that boat on the weekend.

Don't forget. This is the Halibut Lung capacity guy, the short boil from homeguard Albacore guy, the everyone knows that you cant anchor at Tanner Bank guy, and thusly the guy who claimed he has fished extensively the 60, Cortez and Tanner banks. A grain of salt is needed here

That's pretty honorable and respectful of you, it's not always easy to take the high road.
